For the past month or so Chris and I have been trying to eat healthier...this means we had to cut out pizza, one of our favs. So, I went on a quest to find a pizza recipe that would subdue my cravings.
Chris and I have eaten the Margharita flatbread pizza at BJ's a couple times and we both really liked it. So I found a similiar recipe and put my own little healthy twist on it.
Here it is:
-thin whole wheat pizza crust from Whole Foods
-1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tomatoes
- mozzarella cheese, part skim
- fresh basil
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Spread the extra virgin olive oil all over the pizza crust
Spread the minced garlic all over the pizza crust
Sprinkle the cheese on top of the crust - don't completely cover it because you don't want it to be too cheesy
Cut tomotoes and evenly place them all over the crust (I liked the whole pizza covered with the tomatoes)
Put the basil on top of the tomatoes
Sprinkle a little more cheese to top it off
Bake for about 10 min
The pizza was really good, not greasy and fattening...even Chris liked it and told his friends about it! I was proud of myself because this was one of my FEW cooking successes :)
