A New Dog Cousin!

My parents got another dog to add to their pack! Her name is Mollie and she's a 14 month old golden retriever. She is so cute and friendly and she smiles non-stop. Patch (my parent's other dog) is really excited to have a sister! They get along really well, although from what my mom says, it sounds like Patch still likes to have his alone time because Mollie is so energetic and wants to play all the time. Mollie will most likely be my dad's new running partner, which will be great for her so she can get out a lot of energy.

Mollie
Mollie looks almost identical to our latest family dog, Annie, who passed away a couple years ago. We had Annie for 14 years and was a beloved member of our family. Annie was a very friendly dog just like Mollie and she was my dad's running partner and best friend. However, besides going for her daily runs with my dad, Annie just enjoyed laying low all day, getting in plenty of sleep. When she did play, it was only for about 5 minutes and then she would go back to her dog bed by the fireplace.

Annie
Although Annie could never be replaced and we will always love her, we are very excited to welcome Mollie to the family!! I'm sure I will have lots of stories to blog about when Mollie comes to play with our 7 dogs!

Too Hungry to Stand

This is how Jack eats every night...he just lays down and relaxes and enjoys his dinner.

Just Me and the Dogs

Chris was in San Antonio this week for work so I had the dogs and the house all to myself. Dakota wasn't very happy about this...she waited for Chris by the front door most of the time, except when it was feeding time and when I made her come sit in my lap for a little bit, but even then she stared at the door waiting for Chris. She is going to be REALLY happy when Chris finally walks through the door tonight...her little nub tail is going to go crazy.

The rest of the dogs played outside and laid around most of the time. They were really excited to share the bed with me at night...you would think that I would have MORE room in the bed when Chris is gone, but I ended up sleeping in a ball because all the dogs (except for Dakota) were in bed with me, sprawled out. I even tried to stretch my legs out at one point in the night and Gabe pushed me away! This morning I woke up and Chase was sharing my pillow with me, with his face right in mine.

Gabe was allowed to watch all of his favorite shows like Human Prey, It's Me or the Dog, Houston Animal Cops and Rivermonsters, without being interrupted by Chris's shows like Judge Judy and Jerseylicious. Gabe wasn't very happy when I wanted to watch The Real World, but he didn't seem to mind watching Teen Mom 2. (It's a good thing that Gabe likes to watch educational shows, or else my mind would only be polluted with MTV).

When we were watching t.v. one night, I looked over and saw Simba sitting, and staring at the door. I guess she missed Chris a little bit too. If you look closely, you can see a black blob laying to the left of the gate...that's Dakota waiting for Chris. What a loyal girl :).

Tomorrow, some friends are dropping off a couple of their dogs to hangout for the weekend, then on Wednesday my mom is dropping off Patch for a few days when she goes to visit my grandparents. Our house is going to be filled with lots of wagging tails and dog breath. Chris is on his own though because I'm heading out to Miami on Sunday. The dogs will love getting to sleep in our bed 2 weeks in a row!

This is what happens when...

You trip over a dog in the middle of the night...

But my dogs are worth every bruise :)

Happy Hump Day!

Busy Bee!

Happy March everyone! I'm so glad we are finally out of the winter months! I've been busy, busy these last couple of weeks and I'm only going to get busier!

This weekend I'm heading out to Miami for a week for business and after that my sister is coming in town so I can throw her a baby shower! Starting in April me and my triathlon girls/bffs, Paige and Kathleen, will be doing a bunch of races...a duathlon, the Warrior Dash (a 5K run with an obsticle course!), and several triathlons! I love doing these races and I love doing them even more with these girls because they keep me motivated and it's SO much more fun to race with friends so you can cheer each other on and laugh at each other!

Speaking of races, a couple weekends ago, Gabe and I went to cheer on my brother at the Cowtown Half Marathon in Fort Worth. It was his first half marathon! He did great with a time of 2 hours! Go Ryan!

Gabe really enjoyed hanging out with me (duh), seeing other dogs, and getting lots of attention from other people. At least 20 people stopped me to ask me what kind of dog he is and to tell me how beautiful he is. He loves the attention and I'm not going to lie...so do I. But saying "he's half alaskan malamute, half black lab" over and over, can get old quickly!

My parents met us at the race and brought their dog Patch. Gabe was really excited to see them. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours so on the way home, Gabe passed out in the back of the car. It was a good way to zap his energy!

The rest of this week is going to be spent getting ready for my trip to Miami and working on details for my sister's baby shower! Next week I'll be working/laying out on the beach, so I apologize if I don't blog much!

Speaking of beach...my girlfriends and I just booked a trip to Cozumel this summer! I can't wait!!!

Have a great day!
